Congratulations to all of the recently elected municpal officals – Angel Fire, Eagle Nest, Cimarron, Springer, and Raton. I look forward to meeting each of you later this year and discussing my ideas for Colfax County with you. Springer, New Mexico (March 1) – Springer Resident and Business Owner, James “Landon” Newton (R) has announced his candidacy for Colfax County Commissioner, District 3. Newton was born and raised in Springer and began his business career there in 1978 after graduating from New Mexico State University with a degree in Business Administration. He has now returned to the community to make it his home after living and working in Belen, NM since 1990. Newton purchased the Ranchers Supply feed store in Springer from his parents, Jack and Norma Newton, in April of 2011 and has been operating the business since that time. “I have always considered Colfax County my true home and I now want to contribute my time and effort to make a difference in the County’s future.” stated Landon Newton. “This is the reason I have chosen to run for the Colfax County Board of Commissioners.” During the past four legislative sessions, Newton has worked as a Bill Analyst for the New Mexico House of Representatives. He analyzed Bills for the Agricultural & Water Resources Committee, the Energy & Natural Resources Committee and the Taxation and Revenue Committee. Newton also has over 30 years of experience in the Banking and Agricultural Lending Industry in New Mexico. In addition to owning and operating Ranchers Supply in Springer, Newton is also a Licensed New Mexico Real Estate Broker. The wealth of experience Landon Newton brings to the table will allow him to serve the citizens of District 3 in an effective and professional manner with a focus on fiscal responsibility and growth for Colfax County. |
